The PI3K-AKT network at the interface of oncogenic signalling and cancer metabolism

Hoxhaj G, Manning BD et al. · 2019 · Nature reviews. Cancer · Atlas ID HOX2019

What this study shows

Review of the PI3K-AKT-mTOR network at the interface of oncogenic signalling and metabolism.

Abstract

ShowHide

The altered metabolic programme of cancer cells facilitates their cell-autonomous proliferation and survival. In normal cells, signal transduction pathways control core cellular functions, including metabolism, to couple the signals from exogenous growth factors, cytokines or hormones to adaptive changes in cell physiology.

Evidence type R Review — secondary literature, not a new result Marked R because it is a review or synthesis of existing evidence rather than a new primary result; that is a different form of writing, not a weaker one.
