Jiyoung Pan is a PhD student in Constantinos Demetriades' group at the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing in Cologne, where the question is where inside the cell mTORC1 acts and on which targets. She is a co-author of FER2024, which found that mTORC1 on the lysosome and mTORC1 elsewhere in the cell phosphorylate different substrates, depending on where the amino acids come from.
In 2026 she was first author of a review in Current Opinion in Cell Biology, with Stephanie Fernandes, Riko Hatakeyama and Demetriades. It argues that mTORC1 is not a simple on/off switch: it picks its targets depending on how they are recruited and where they sit in the cell, and its activity can be separated from its lysosomal location. She is also a co-author of a 2025 preprint from the same group showing that the deubiquitinase CYLD restrains mTOR by removing K63-linked ubiquitin chains from it.
Her public record is still short (five publications on her ResearchGate profile), and her earlier training is not documented in the sources checked here. The review and the preprint are not part of the Atlas corpus; only FER2024 is.
