Yanhong Su
Cardiologist in Tianjin and Cangzhou who studied how a long non-coding RNA drives necroptotic heart-cell death after a blocked artery is reopened
Department of Cardiology, Tianjin Medical University · Department of Cardiology, Cangzhou People's Hospital, Hebei (at the time of the study, 2026)
Yanhong Su is first author of the Atlas study SU2026, with cardiologist Jun Zhang as senior author. When a blocked heart artery is reopened, the returning blood itself causes extra damage, called ischemia-reperfusion injury. Part of that damage comes from necroptosis, a programmed form of cell death in which the cell bursts. The team looked at DLX6-AS1, a long non-coding RNA, which is an RNA molecule that regulates genes without making a protein.
In mice with ischemia-reperfusion injury, DLX6-AS1 levels rose together with the necroptosis markers RIP1, RIP3 and MLKL. In rat heart cells starved of oxygen and then re-oxygenated, extra DLX6-AS1 raised the active forms of PI3K, AKT and mTOR and made necroptosis worse, while blocking DLX6-AS1 reduced cell death. Here the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway sits on the harmful side, the opposite of many heart studies in which AKT signalling protects heart cells. The work is in mice and a rat cell line.
PubMed lists Su at the cardiology departments of Tianjin Medical University and Cangzhou People's Hospital in Hebei province. No other papers or official page could be tied to this person with confidence, so the profile rests on this study.
