Jun Zhang is the senior and corresponding author of the Atlas study SU2026, with Yanhong Su as first author. The study looked at heart damage that happens when blood flow returns after a heart artery has been blocked, known as ischemia-reperfusion injury. Some of the heart cells die by necroptosis, a programmed form of cell death in which the cell bursts open.
