Manoj Tongra

Chief Scientific Officer of Celagenex Research in Mumbai, senior author of reviews and animal studies that link the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway to brain and immune disorders

Chief Scientific Officer, Celagenex Research, Thane, Mumbai (2026)

Multiple sclerosis is a disease in which the immune system attacks the fatty myelin sheath around nerve fibres. In a 2026 review in Immunologic Research, with Manoj Tongra as senior author, the authors map how two signalling routes interact in this disease: the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway, which steers cell growth and the activity of immune cells, and the JAK/STAT pathway, which carries signals from inflammatory messengers called cytokines. They argue that drugs acting on both routes could reduce immune damage and loss of myelin. A review collects and interprets earlier work; it does not test this idea.

PubMed lists Tongra as Chief Scientific Officer of Celagenex Research in Thane, Mumbai. All of Tongra's papers found on PubMed date from 2026. They include reviews on how muscarinic and histamine receptor signals converge on PI3K/Akt/mTOR, on pentadecanoic acid as a possible mTOR modulator in age-related female infertility, and on growth-factor and immune signalling in autism, as well as rodent studies testing sulforaphane, a compound from broccoli, in models of multiple sclerosis-like and ALS-like nerve damage. Earlier training and career details could not be confirmed.
