Jian Jiang (蒋健) is a PhD student in Mingqi Xie's synthetic biology lab at Westlake University in Hangzhou, with a second affiliation at the School of Life Sciences of Fudan University. The Xie lab builds gene circuits and switches that let cells be controlled by small-molecule drugs, with an eye on gene and cell therapies.
In WANG2026C he is co-first author together with Ruizhao Wang from Kiryl Piatkevich's lab, and the work was a joint project of the two labs, with Piatkevich and Xie as co-corresponding authors. The study built FPTT (fluorescent protein ticker tape), which records the history of a signalling pathway over days in single living cells. The team made FPTT versions for several major pathways, including mTOR, and used the mTOR version to show that mTOR activity rises and falls with the cell cycle, a pattern also reported in JOS2024 with a different method.
Outside the Atlas corpus he is also co-first author of a Cell Research paper (2024) on engineered poly(A) surrogates for drug-controlled translation, and of a Nature Chemical Biology paper (2025) on programmable solid-state condensates for controlling gene expression. Neither of these is about mTOR.
