Luca Marchetti holds a PhD in computer science from the University of Verona and is an associate professor in the CIBIO department at the University of Trento, where he heads the Laboratory of Computational Modeling. He is also a consultant at the Microsoft Research - University of Trento Centre for Computational and Systems Biology (COSBI).
His work applies quantitative systems pharmacology and physiologically-based pharmacokinetic modeling, often with machine learning, to complex disease data. In 2026 he was senior author on a multivariate survival analysis of the RAP-ALS clinical trial of rapamycin in ALS patients, which found a signal of longer survival in treated C9orf72 mutation carriers.
