Katrin Düvel is first author of DUV2010, done as a postdoctoral fellow in Brendan Manning's lab at the Harvard School of Public Health. Using cells with constitutively active mTORC1 (TSC2 loss) and rapamycin, together with gene expression and metabolite profiling, the team found that mTORC1 activation is enough to drive glycolysis, the oxidative pentose phosphate pathway and de novo lipid synthesis. This ran through HIF1α and SREBP1/2 target genes, and SREBP activation needed S6K1.

Before the Manning lab she worked at Princeton University on TOR signalling in budding yeast, including a 2003 Molecular Cell paper on the role of Tap42 in rapamycin-induced changes in gene expression. She earned her PhD at Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen. After about 14 years in basic and applied cancer research at Princeton, the Harvard School of Public Health and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, she moved into research administration. Since April 2018 she has been Director of Research Compliance and Integrity at the Wyss Institute at Harvard.
